How did you become a zookeeper?
I always had an interest in animals, I started in Dublin Zoo’s horticultural section and worked my way up to keeper level.

What kind of animals do you take care of?
Rhinos and Hippos

Which are your favourite animals in the Zoo?
It’s very hard to pick just one. Rhinos, gorillas, hippos and tigers

Do you have any pets at home?
Yes, I’ve dogs, birds and fish!

Can you tell us one of your most exciting/most memorable moments in the Zoo?
The birth of two of our southern white rhinos, Zuki in 2008 and then just recently her brother Zuberi

What do you love most about your job?
Working closely with the animals

What’s the most difficult thing about your work?
When an animal you care for is sick or dies or if the animal is transferred to another zoo

When you’re not working in the zoo, what other hobbies or interests do you have?
Breeding various species of small parrots, walking my 3 dogs and watching Chelsea play!
