Marketing & Events Executive

Favourite animals : Tigers, Sealions, Elephants, Gorillas, Red Pandas and Giraffes.

How long have you been working in Dublin Zoo?
Nearly a year. I have a degree in Sports Management, which covers every aspect of the sports industry. Through the course and working in sport I discovered that it was the events side of things that I really loved. So I set about improving my experience in the field. And the rest is history!

What section of the Zoo do you work in?
I work in the Marketing Department.

What do you take care of in Dublin Zoo?
I look after all the events in Dublin Zoo, this ranges from external events like Birthday Parties, Weddings, Conferences to internal events like Teddy Bears Picnic, Official Openings and Boo at the Zoo to name but a few.

Which are your favourite animals in the Zoo?
I love them all but favourites would have to be the Tigers, Sealions, Elephants, Gorillas, Red Pandas and Giraffes.

Do you have any pets at home?
No, unfortunately I live in an apartment and pets are not allowed. I would love to have a dog.

Can you tell us one of your most exciting moments in the Zoo?
It’s very hard to pick just one there have been so many in just a year. One of the moments that sticks out in my mind would be when we saw the new giraffe calf literally moments after she was born bonding with her mother that was special.
Another special moment for me was Dream Night in the zoo where Dublin Zoo invites children from the 3 children’s hospitals for an exclusive evening in the zoo. The children were so excited and it was a fantastic feeling to be part of something that meant so much to them.

What do you love most about your job?
I love how everyday is different and how I get to work with every department within the zoo team from education and volunteers to retail to zoo keepers.

What’s the most difficult thing about your work?
I really love my job but if I had to choose one difficult thing about it, it would be the long hours and weekend work. Organising events you need to be the first one there for the set up and the last one to leave after the break down and tidy up.

When you’re not working in the zoo, what other hobbies or interests do you have?
I really love football and I’m a Bohemian FC girl at heart so I go to all their matches (well as many as I can) home and away. I’ve also started going to Leinster Rugby matches recently.
Another hobby would be that I sing, I am classical trained and go to singing lessons every week. I also play a little piano.
